CEU, DLSZ hurdle WNCAA rivals
Manila, Philippines - Defending champions Centro Escolar University and De La Salle Zobel bested their respective rivals to kick off their title-retention campaigns in the 43rd WNCAA over the weekend.
CEU dumped Philippine Women’s University, 81-35, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig while St. Scholastica’s College nipped University of Asia and the Pacific, 64-63, after the colorful opening rites prepared by host DLSZ last Saturday.
San Beda College Alabang routed Assumption College, 56-30, while Emilio Aguinaldo College stopped La Consolacion College Manila, 45-34, at resumption of seniors action Sunday at the RTU gym in Mandaluyong.
DLSZ, the defending midgets champion, waylaid St. Stephen’s High School, 36-5, in the event backed by Goody, Mikasa, Molten, MJC Photography, network partner AKTV and radio partner Monster Radio RX 93.1.
In seniors volleyball at the St. Scholastica gym in Manila last Sunday, CEU rallied to beat St. Scholastica, 20-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-9, 15-12, while UA&P swept La Consolacion, 25-19, 25-15, 25-18; PWU dominated EAC, 25-7, 25-15, 25-20; and Miriam College outclassed Assumption, 25-12, 25-18, 25-14.
