- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion Far Eastern University downed La Salle, 63-58, yesterday to remain on top in the UAAP Season 75 women’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

Allana Lim posted a double-double job with 18 points and 11 rebounds while Camille Sambile scored 10 points and pulled down six boards to help the Lady Tamaraws post their third straight victory matches while snapping the Lady Archers’ two-game win run.

The Lady Tams thus matched their counterparts’ equally solid starts in the men’s division and junior play.

The Tams are unbeaten in four outings, while the Diliman-based FEU juniors team is at 3-0.

In other results, Ateneo drubbed University of the East, 70-49, and host National University defeated University of the Philippines, 61-53.

Sarah Mercado and Marie Claire Aseron combined for 21 points for the Lady Eagles, who held the Lady Warriors to 11 points in the first two quarters.

Carmina Laquindanum shot 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds while Eden Alla added 13 points and six boards for the Lady Bulldogs, who quelled a late Lady Maroons rally in the final period.

Ateneo and NU are now tied with La Salle at 2-1 while UE and UP remain winless in three games.
