Magnolia Saturday chessfest slated

MANILA, Philippines - The 55th edition of the first Saturday Magnolia chess tournament will be held Aug. 4 with another banner field expected at the Perez Bldg. on Doña Soledad Ave. cor. Australia St. Better Living Subd. in Parañaque City.

The tournament, open to all untitled and rated players with rating not exceeding 1950, offers cash prizes from first to third placers in various categories. Events on tap are the seniors, college, high school, elementary and ladies divisions.

The tournament is organized by the Parañaque Chess Association, headed by Dr. Bong Perez and sponsored by Tagaytay City Mayor Bambol Tolentino, Rep. Roilo Golez, Councilor Benjo Bernabe, Boy Francisco, Spare and Strike, Jollibee (Better Living), Shakey’s Pizza (SM Bicutan branch) and Red Ribbon (SM Bicutan), Chowking, Ramon Licardo Jr. (SM Bicutan branch), SM Hypermarket (Albina Moreno), Jollibee Bldg. A (Jeff Leoncio) and Magnolia Beverages.

Registration is ongoing with fee pegged at P250 (regular) and P150 (kiddies).
