TRS-Castrol Racing reaps honors in GT series 4th leg

MANILA, Philippines - The Tuason Racing School-Castrol Racing Team scored another feat as Korean Mickey Kim posted an impressive victory in the fourth leg of the 2012 Philippine GT Championship Series at the Clark International Speedway recently.

Kim, who joined the TRS Cup program last January, humbled the fancied bets in his debut in the GT200 division to capture the crown for the Castrol-TRS Racing Team powered by Castrol, Bridgestone, Auto Access, Standard Insurance, Coke Zero, Oakley, Toptul, OMP, C! Magazine, Speedlab, and Aguila Auto Glass.

Keeping the solo lead in the GT100 class in the first three legs, the Korean proved his mettle in a higher class where he upstaged the father-son tandem of Arnel and Dwight Kevin Carlos.

Posting a 2:16 in the qualifying time trials, Kim displayed consistent driving and strategy to finish fifth overall in the nine-lap Sprint Race and claim the GT200 runner-up honors.

On his Honda Civic EK, he checked in fourth overall behind the top three title contenders of the series.

“He did what we asked him to do, and it produced amazing results. And to finish fourth behind (Jody) Coseteng, (Vincent) Floirendo and (Jojo) Silverio is something we didn’t expect but it opened bigger promises from this guy if he steps up a little further,” said Castrol-TRS Racing team manager Mike Tuason.
