Mayor Calixto-Rep. Rubiano swim meet slated at Pasay July 22

Manila, Philippines -  The Philippine Swimming League is staging the first Mayor Antonino Calixto and Rep. Imelda Calixto-Rubiano Swimming Championships serving as the 27th leg of the PSL age-group swimming circuit on July 22 at the Pasay City Sports Complex Swimming Pool beside Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay.

PSL president Susan Papa said the event, supported by the Pasay City government and held in cooperation with the Pasay City Aquatic Sports Association headed by Nunilon Moreno, will have categories from six years and under to 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15 and over.

“The competition is open to everybody, regardless of affiliations,” said Papa, who added that proceeds of the competition will fund various projects of the Bernabe Elementary School in Pasay City under the Adapt- a-School program of the PCASA.

Former Sen. Nikki Coseteng, president and chief executive officer of the Diliman Preparatory School, is supporting the PSL Circuit, a grassroots program of the PSL and DPS.

“The program encourages all swimmers from different regions, provinces and schools to participate in competitions to enhance their skills,” said Coseteng. “Through the circuit we hope to identify more potential swimmers for local and future international competitions.”

Awards will be given to top three swimmers in accordance to their categories based on PSL standard time, as Classes A, B, C, and Novice.

Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the top finishers while certificates of recognition will be given to all participants.

Entries must be forwarded to PSL technical director Edgar Galeno (coach_edgar117@yahoo.com.) or PSL secretary Guia Llaguno (guia_llaguno@yahoo.com.) on or before Saturday.
