Sandigan, Ombudsman officials win in shootfest
MANILA, Philippines - Top officials of the Sandiganbayan and the Office of the Ombudsman dominated last week’s First SandiGun-OmbudsGun Club shooting competition in Camp Karingal, QC.
Director Diosdado Calonge of the Office of the Special Prosecutor and president of SandiGun-OmbudsGun Club Inc. was named champion of the Classic Division.
Atty. Windsor Pamorca, Villaruz’ chief-of-staff, came in second, while Graft Investigation and Prosecution Officer Arman Sanchez of the Office of the Ombudsman finished third.
Sandiganbayan employee Caloy Nacario dominated the Standard Division of the Organizer’s Match level followed by Ogie Sumugoy and Florecel Sebastian, a staff member of the anti-graft court’s First Division.
Sandiganbayan Third Division Bailiff Nilo Benitez topped the Production Division of the same category, followed by Kenneth Subido of the Sheriffs and Security Services Office and Assistant Special Prosecutor III Jeofferson Toribio, vice president of the SandiGun-OmbudsGun Club Inc.
The Guests Match level under the Standard Division was dominated by Bogie Ocampo of the Social Security System followed by GIPO Amir Pelaez and Carlito Basco of the Office of the Ombudsman.
Joel Purrugunan, also of the Office of the Ombudsman’s Central Office, ruled the Production Division of the same category with Assistant Special Prosecutor Peter Lim and Justin Balmeo, son of Assistant Special Prosecutor Jose Balmeo finishing second and third, respectively.
In a speech during the shootfest, Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Francisco Villaruz Jr., underscored the importance of responsible gun ownership among members of the judiciary and its partners.
