PCA to stage youth tourney

MANILA, Philippines - The Parañaque Chess Association will hold the second elementary and high school chess tournament on June 30 with a big field expected to see action at the Perez Bldg. in Better Living cor. Australia St., Dona Soledad, Parañaque.

The seven-round Swiss system tournament, set at 9 a.m., is open to students with rating not exceeding 1900 based on the NCFP standard rating last April.

Cash prizes and trophies will be at stake in the one-day tournament organized by the PCA and Barangay Don Bosco Chess Club, headed by Cecil Padua.

Spicing up the event is a simul game featuring NM candidate Giovanni Mejia, the youngest finalist in the national team qualifiers, against some of the participants at 8 a.m.
