MANILA, Philippines - Flynn Jackes dominated his event while AT Tuason placed third as the Castrol-Tuason Racing School (TRS) kids team turned in impressive finishes in the National Karting Super Series at the Carmona Racetrack in Cavite recently.
The Fil-Aussie Jackes captured the Mini-ROK crown in an overwhelming fashion while Tuason held his ground in the tough 12-man combined field, bagging third place in the Formula Cadet Expert division.
Unlike the past three legs, the TRS team, backed by Castrol, Bridgestone, Standard Insurance, C! Magazine, OMP, Coke Zero, Oakley, Aguila and Toptul, put up a gutsy stand this time to surprise the crowd and earn the respect of rival teams and karters heading to the last three legs of the series.
Jackes pulled off a big sweep with close wins in both the qualifying and pre-final heats then unleashed his fiery form to complete the 15-lap final race in 12 minutes, 26.068 seconds, 13.447 seconds ahead of his nearest pursuer.
The win firmed up Jackes’ hold of second place overall.
Tuason almost made it a double victory, ruling both the qualifying and pre-final heats of the combined Formula Cadet Expert and Novice race.
But the two Formula Cadet Expert frontrunners foiled Tuason with two laps to go to secure the top two spots all the way to the finish line.
Still, Tuason kept his hold of overall third place to remain in the thick of the title fight.
“Flynn and AT really stepped up in this race and I’m happy with their competitive form. We expect them to show more of what they learned and how much they improved in the coming three races,” said TRS president JP Tuason.
Wils Casequin, on the other hand, struggled against the other Novice drivers, settling for ninth in the combined race to claim fifth place honors in the Formula Cadet Expert division.
