MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Drag Racing Championships season winds up today with championship round of the Northern Series with 120 drivers gearing up for a battle royale at the Clark International Speedway in Clark, Pampanga.
Teener Arvin Millet of TEMZ expects a tough challenge against multi-titled champion Jonathan Tiu and William Hand for the Northern Series overall plum while Jannery Millet hopes to get past his rivals in the Yokohama Expert category of the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.
Drag racing director Fil Gulfin said all participants must come early and make use of the limited time for practice and set-up adjustments for their dial slips. Registration starts at 6 a.m. while the drivers briefing is set at 8 a.m.
Arvin Jay took the Expert crown in the Southern series recently but Jannery Millet remains confident of his chances in the Northern Series finals.
He grabbed the overall lead with 17 points in the Expert class following his impressive victory in last month’s penultimate round of the event sponsored by GT Radial, HKS Motor Oil, M&H Race Master, Yokohama and powered by Racing Beat@Wave 89.1.
Jaybee Alinea of Team Ready looms as his toughest rival with the former just behind with 15 points while his brother Arvin Jay and Dietro Carlo Evangelista share third place.
