MANILA, Philippines - Paul Zamar put on another solid all-around performance as Blackwater Sports streaked to its third straight win with an 85-61 rout of Jakarta Pon in the Enjoy Jakarta Anniversary Basketball Tournament in Jakarta last Thursday.
Zamar poured in 21 points as the Elite dominated the game right from the start en route to remain on top of the six-team heap.
“Unlike in our first two games where we struggled early, this time we got off to a hot start,” said Silliman Sy, one of the team managers. “The boys are playing inspired game because of the support of some local fans.”
With a 3-0 record, Blackwater, owned by businessman Dioceldo Sy, needs to win two more games, including against the dangerous Korean squad, to sweep the championship.
“We’re improving, so I hope we can hurdle our two remaining games,” said coach Leo Isaac who also drew 17 markers from Allan Mangahas.
All eight players fielded in by Isaac scored two points or more with Robby Celiz and Jess Bustos combining for 23 points while Neil Pascual and Gio Ciriacruz providing the muscle underneath.
Blackwater shoots for its fourth straight win against Jakarta Selection today.
