ILLAM fields 3 teams to AsPac regionals

MANILA, Philippines - The International Little League Association of Manila (ILLAM) will send three division teams for the Asia Pacific Regional Championships starting this weekend with the Little League girls softball (11-12) vying in the AsPac Regionals slated June 24-25 in Jakarta.

The ILLAM softbelles, managed by Karen Solitario and mentored by Randy Dizer, will face Guam, China and Indonesia in the qualifying event for the World Series in Portland, Oregon in August, according to ILLAM president Norman Macasaet.

The Junior League baseball (13-14), will compete in the AsPac tilt in Vietnam on June 30-July 7 against Chinese Taipei, Saipan, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Indonesia in a double round elimination. The winner will advance to the World Series in Taylor, Michigan in August.

The ILLAM juniors squad is managed by Yuri Balagtas.

The Little League baseball boys (11-12), managed by RJ Bitong and coached by Egay delos Reyes, will clash with Guam, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Taiwan in Group A of the AsPac regionals slated July 1-8 in Tai-Chung, Taiwan.

The Group B side is composed of Korea, Saipan, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore with the top two teams in each bracket will slug it out for the outright berth for the Williamsport Little League World Series in Pennsylvannia, also in August.

The ILLAM bets are backed by Pacific On Line, Toyota Motors, Cornell Bros, Dunkin Donuts, Shakey’s, Mc Donalds, LL Philippines, POC, PSC and commissioner Jolly Gomez.
