Tim mocks Manny with giant ticket for rematch

- Abac Cordero - The Philippine Star

LAS VEGAS, Philippines  – Timothy Bradley said yesterday he’s ready to go to war against Manny Pacquiao then hoisted a phony, oversized fight ticket for “Pacquiao vs Bradley 2.”

The ticket, probably half the size of a ping-pong table, had everything on it: a date that says November 10, 2012, a venue, the MGM, and a seat number.

“Come on baby, this is your ticket,” Bradley said as he called on his wife, Monica, to join him up the stage. The seat number read Section 1, Row A, Seat 1.

The ticket carried a price of $1,200.

That shows how confident the 28-year-old American is of beating Pacquiao on Saturday at the MGM. And if he does, the contract calls for a rematch in November.

Pacquiao, seated inches away from Bradley, smiled as the undefeated American pulled off the publicity stunt. Freddie Roach, the trainer, yawned, as if he’d seen it before.

There was some laughter inside the Hollywood Theater of the MGM, during Wednesday’s final press conference.

Last week, during his media workout at the Fortune Gym in Los Angeles, the 28-year-old Bradley brought fight posters and fake media credentials for the rematch he’s dreaming of.

Roach was not amused. Asked if there was a possibility of a rematch, he said, “When you knock a guy out there’s not gonna be a rematch. How much did they spend for those f___ng flyers?”

In his brief speech, Bradley said he waited all his life “for this moment,” and now he’s just a few days away from “the biggest fight of my career.”

He thanked Pacquiao for the opportunity, and his wife for handling everything.

Bradley said he’s ready.

“Training camp was hell. Training camp was hell,” said Bradley as Pacquiao, now deep into Bible studies, listened.

When it was his turn at the microphone, Pacquiao said, “Training was good and amazing. It’s heaven.”

Bradley vowed to beat Pacquiao when they clash on Saturday (Sunday noon in Manila), and that he’d leave the arena as the new WBO welterweight champion.

“I never trained as hard my whole life. I’m ready to shock the world. Let’s get it on baby. It’s gonna be war. It’s gonna be war. I’m ready,” he said.

Before going back to his seat, Bradley was handed the oversized fight ticket.

There was nothing much on the part of Pacquiao, except when he was presented a diamond ring by WBO president Francisco Valcarcel.

It was an oversized ring that can be seen 50 feet away.

Pacquiao looked at the ring, which he wore on his left middle finger, and thanked the WBO chief.

“Thank you for the ring. Now I can punch heavier,” he said.
