Coyuito, Cano, Latorre win Smart/Head Manila leg
MANILA, Philippines – Samantha Coyuito, Andrew Joshua Cano and Jeremiah Latorre won a title each in the Manila leg of 14th Smart Presents the HEAD 2012 Junior National Tennis Age-Group Satellite Circuit at the Meralco Tennis Courts.
Coyuito, who is playing her last year in the 64-day satellite junior tennis tourney, won the girls’ 18-under singles title with an impressive 6-3, 6-1 victory over second seed Lenelyn Milo.
Cano, who is No. 10, blanked ninth seed Eric Olivarez Jr., 6-3, 7-5, to take home the boys’ 18-under singles trophy of the event supported by Smart Communications, Chris Sports, HEAD, Meralco, Maynilad and Toalson.
Latorre, for his part, bagged the boys’ 16-under singles crown with a 6-0, 1-6, 10-3 win against Davao bet Jeleardo Amazona. Rachelle De Guzman whipped Jenni Dizon, 7-5, 6-0, to take home the girls’ 16-under singles title of the event supported by Smart Communications executive Noel Lorenzana.
In the boy’s 14-under finals, Joel Atienza swept Manuel Balce, 6-0, 6-0, for the title, while Jake Martin prevailed over Miko Eala, 7-6 (6), 6-3, to win the boys’ 12-under category.
Miko Eala, though, captured the 10-under unisex trophy by sweeping Enrique Jugo, 6-0, 6-0, in the 64-day satellite junior tennis event sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association that provides junior ranking points.
No. 1 Erika Manduriao rallied past Coleen Sioson, 6-7 (5), 7-5, 10-3, to snare the girls’ singles 14-under class of the event sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association.
In the girls’ 12-under singles finals, Melanie Faye Dizon defeated Alex Eala, 6-0, 6-3 to gain the title.
In the boys’ 18-under doubles, Juan Paolo Cansino and Joel Cabusas outplayed Dheo Talatayod and Eric Olivarez Jr., 8-7, to win the crown, while Macy Gonzales and April Santos beat Erika Manduriao and Ingrid Gonzales, 8-3, for the girls crown.
