Huey, pal advance
MANILA, Philippines - Fil-Am Treat Huey and Great Britain’s Dominic Inglot stunned fifth seed Robert Lindstedt of Sweden and Horia Tecau of Romania, 6-3, 6-4, to advance to the third round of the French Open Saturday.
Huey and Inglot next face 10th pick Aisaq Ul Haq Qureshi of Pakistan and Jean Julien Roger of The Netherlands.
who edged Germany’s Bjron Phau and Canada’s Adil Shamshdin, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (4).
Interestingly, Huey will finally get to face off with Qureshi, ranked 16th in the world against the Fil-Am’s No. 46 rankings.
Qureshi also skipped the Group II Asia-Oceania Zone Davis Cup tie that resulted to a 5-0 drubbing by the Filipinos of the Pakistanis a couple of months back citing an injury he sustained prior to the event.
Huey and Inglot hurdled Americans Michael Russell and Donald Young, 7-5, 6-2, in the first round to set up a meeting with the fancied Lindstedt and Tecau, a 6-4, 6-2 winner over Russian Alex Bogomolov, Jr. and Belgian Dick Norman.
