Saturday chess up at Parañaque

MANILA, Philippines - The 53rd edition of the first Saturday chess tournament gets going tomorrow with a big field participating at Perez Bldg. Doña Soledad Ave. Cor. Australia St. Better Living Subd. Parañaque.

The event is open to all untitled and rated players with rating of NCFP 1950 below. Registration is ongoing with fee pegged at P250 (regular) and P150 (kiddies).

Up for grabs is the top P3,000 purse with the second and third placers receiving P2,000 and P1,000, respectively, plus trophies.

Other events on tap are the seniors, college, high school, elementary and female divisions.

The event is organized by the Parañaque Chess Association, headed by Dr. Bong Perez and sponsored by Tagaytay City Mayor Abraham Tolentino, Rep. Roilo Golez, brgy. captain Teodoro Virata, kagawad Chona Navarro, Boy Francisco, Spare and Strike, Jollibee (Better Living), Shakey’s Pizza (SM Bicutan branch) and Red Ribbon (SM Bicutan).
