MANILA, Philippines - Cebu Queen City United FC bucked a slow start with a strong finish as it trounced Laos FC, 6-1, to keep its slim hopes alive in the Second Division of the United Football League at the University of Makati field in Makati over the weekend.
Trailing by a goal after Laos’ Rolly Lear sneaked in one on the 21st minute, Cebu kept its poise before Dan Villarico came through with two goals, one on the 24th and another in injury time of the first half after a goal by Ariel Cahilig to go into the break ahead at 3-1.
Junard Aguilar converted a low pass from the right by Marion Rey Cubelo off another superb pass by Benedict Luis Arriola then Rommel Cuizon hit his own goal on the 81st to make it 5-1.
Arriola scored another one late in regulation to seal the victory.
The emphatic win hiked Cebu’s total to 39 points on an 11-3-3 (win-draw-loss) record that moved it closer to second-running Diliman Victory Liner FC, which has 47 points on a 15-2-1 slate.
