Young karting champs collide in Kart Track

MANILA, Philippines - Young riders go all out to prove their mettle as they vie for top honors in the third leg of the national karting series this weekend at the Boomland Kart Track of the CCP Complex in Pasay.

Tai Zulberti of CityKart and Jose Luigi Lachica of One Racing seek to keep their lead in the entry level Formula Cadet classes with the former eyeing his third straight win in the Formula Cadet Expert class against Dylan Arambulo and AT Tuason of Castrol-TRS Kids. 

Zulberti scored 129 points for a 10-point lead over Arambulo with Tuason at third with 82 points.

Others in the hunt are Jacob Chamness (79 pts), William Casequin (75 pts) and Xedrei Daquigan of XPD (54 pts).

Lachica also guns for his third win in a row in the Formula Cadet Novice against Francis Tanlu of AUTS Racing and Sean Draeco Abalajon of Kart Wreckers.

Lachica holds a perfect 150 points against Tanlu (112) and Abalajon (101) in the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and sponsored by Motorstar and Aeromed.

The Mini ROK division will be a toss-up between Flynn Jackes of Castrol-TRS Kids and Gabriel Cabrera of Kart Wreckers. Jackes, who won in Batangas, wrested the solo lead with 132 points but Cabrera is just behind with 131 points. Xedrei Daquigan is third with 100 points.

With injured Jaz Monzones a doubtful starter, Sacha Feliciano of Marcelo Racing gets the chance to improve his ranking as he goes up against Raul Baretto in the ROK Clubman class. Monzones currently holds the top spot in the ROK Clubman with 110 points against Feliciano (88) and Baretto (27).

Estefano Rivera of Fern-C Racing grabbed the solo lead in the ROK junior division with 130 points following his double-title feat in Batangas against Daniel Miranda of Cebuana Lhuillier-Marcelo Racing (111 pts) and last year’s Clubman Karter of the Year Matthew Chan also of Fern-C Racing (78 pts).
