MANILA, Philippines - The Suntrust Cup fires off today with more than 200 players vying for top honors in various divisions at the Sherwood Hills Golf Club in Trece Martires City, Cavite.

A new Texas Eagle cart and a Meister watch are at stake as hole-in-one prizes in the 18-hole tournament composed of 70 three-man teams clashing for top honors under the modified Scramble format.

Also up for grabs in the shotgun-start tournament are golf vacation packages, high-tech gadgets such as I-Pad 2, LED and LCD TV.

Other backers of the event are Beneficial Life Insurance, Davies Paints, Compact Graphics, CA Exhibite Netwok, Meister and Trinity Insurance Brokers.

Meanwhile, Suntrust Properties Inc. (SPI) president Harry Paltongan will lead the opening of the swimming pool and mini-golf facilities located near No. 10.
