Big Chill seeks outright semis berth

MANILA, Philippines - Big Chill hopes to come out strong from a two-week layoff as it resumes its bid for an outright semifinal berth against Erase Plantcenta in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup today at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Super Chargers seek their third straight win and sixth overall in nine games for a share of second with the Cebuana Lhuillier Gems, their chief rival for the second outright semis spot.

Defending champion NLEX has secured the first outright Final Four berth with an impressive 8-0 card with Big Chill hoping to join the Road Warriors with a victory over the Erasers in their 4 p.m. encounter.

The Super Chargers will clinch the No. 2 spot if they finish tied with the Gems on the strength of the winner-over-the-other rule.

Big Chill defeated Cebuana Lhuillier, 68-52, in their only meeting in the elims.

Café France and Boracay Rum tangle in the 2 p.m. opener.

With a 3-4 card, Erase Plantcenta is out in running for an outright semis spot but remains a tough rival with the Erasers also out to boost their quarterfinal bid. 

Meanwhile, Café France goes for the first of three wins it needs to keep its playoff bid alive. The Bakers have the edge over the Erasers should the two teams finished tied after the elims.

At 2-5, Boracay Rum is out of the running for a playoff spot but is raring to spoil Café France’s quarterfinal bid.
