Eagles gain 5th straight victory
MANILA, Philippines - Ateneo routed Our Lady of Fatima University, 72-52, to roll into the quarterfinal round even as Letran stormed to its fourth straight win in the 18th Fr. Martin Summer Cup basketball tournament in various venues.
Niko Salva and Tonino Gonzaga combined for 29 points as the US-bound Blue Eagles dominated the Phoenix from start to finish to annex their fifth win in a row in Group A and clinch the first seat in the quarters at San Beda gym in Mendiola last Wednesday.
The Knights, on the other had, got 11 points apiece from Mark Cruz, Kevin Racal and McJour Luib, as they breezed past the Informatics Icons, 70-58, last Thursday at the San Andres Sports Complex in Malate.
In the junior side, the Far Eastern University Baby Tams outplayed the UP Integrated School Junior Maroons, 66-41, to register their third straight victory.
In other results, the Chiang Kai Shek Dragons prevailed over the Jose Rizal University Light Bombers, 63-59, for their first win, while the University of Perpetual Help Junior Altas thumped the St. Stephen side, 70-50.
