Rizal paces Jr PBA
MANILA, Philippines - Rizal swept the elimination round to advance to the semifinal of the ongoing Jr PBA 13-under basketball tournament.
The Rizal cagers of Mark Herrera defeated Muntinlupa, Marikina, Pasig, Caloocan and Quezon City for a 5-0 win-loss card. Herrera has won five titles in the annual tournament, staged by the PBA as part of its grassroots program.
The team is composed of Julian Jugo, Javi Jugo, Fort Dazo, Migo Santos, Prince Carlos, Miguel Datu, Rico Datu, Stacey Tibayan, Mathew Concepcion, Nico Saubier, Venhjo Maximo, Jelo Torrijos, Miguel Cabradilla,Yes Lazaro, Basti Locsin.
The Rizal team is supported by Gov. Jun Ynares.
Meanwhile, Herrera’s Phl 13-under team recently overhauled the much-taller Lyceum Juniors, 78-71, to post its first win in the junior division of the Filoil Flying V Hanes Cup pre-season tournament.
The team is supported by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas headed by chairman Manny Pangilinan, vice chairman Ricky Vargas and executive director Sonny Barrios.
