Badminton ranking system listup ends

MANILA, Philippines - Registration for the kickoff leg of the MVP Sports Foundation-Philippine Badminton Ranking System (PBaRS) ends today at 5 p.m. at the PBaRS office at 20 E. Maclang St. cor. P. Guevarra St., San Juan.

Fee is pegged at P400 for the first entry with an additional P150 per player for the other events.

The event, sponsored by Goal Pilipinas, fires off May 19 at the Metro Sports Center in Cebu City with hostilities lined up in the singles, doubles and mixed doubles in the Open, Under-19 and Under-15 categories.

The five-day event is the first of three tournaments lined up by the Philippine Badminton Association, headed by Vice President Jejomar Binay, chairman and sports patron Manny V. Pangilinan, and sec-gen Rep. Albee Benitez, for members of the national team and pool as well as aspiring players.

The second leg of the circuit, backed by Gatorade, Krav Maga Phils., Sincere Construction and Development Corp., Vineza Industrial Sales, Victor PCome Industrial Sales, TV5 and Badminton Extreme Magazine, will be held Oct. 27-31 in Manila while Cagayan de Oro will host the final stage on Nov. 30-Dec. 4.

Meanwhile, the posting of official entries at PBaRS and Match Control websites will be on May 10 while the draw will be held at the Valle Verde Country Club in Pasig on May 14.

The match schedule will be posted on May 16 while the managers, coaches and players meeting will be held on May 18 at the Metro Sports Center in Cebu.
