Filoil officials suspend two more cagers

- Joey Villar -

MANILA, Philippines - Organizers of the 2012 Filoil Flying V Pre-Season Hanes Cup continued to crack the whip on erring players as they suspended two more from Mapua for a disqualification foul during their game against reigning NCAA champion San Beda last Wednesday.

League commissioner Ato Badolato yesterday sacked Jumel Chien and Mike Parala for flagrant fouls in their losing stand, 61-77, to the Lions.

“They’ll be suspended for one game,” Badolato told The STAR yesterday.

It marked the second time that the league suspended erring players after Far Eastern U’s Terrence Romeo and John Clarence Foronda for the same offense and banned fan Andrei Mendoza, a Lyceum hopeful, from the venue for the rest of the season for punching Gryann Mendoza of FEU.

Chien was the first to be tossed out after hitting San Beda rookie Julius Armon late in the third quarter. Parala followed suit with a flagrant foul on Kyle Pascual midway in the final period.

Meanwhile, San Beda, already assured of a spot in the quarters, goes for win No. 7 as it takes on Perpetual Help at 1:45 p.m. Despite their edge in manpower and form, San Beda coach Ronnie Magsanoc remains wary of the Altas.

“We learned from every game so we hope the players treat the same way we treat each and every game,” said Magsanoc.
