Marasigan-Oliva tops CJH invitational

MANILA, Philippines – John Marasigan and partner Clifford John Oliva combined for a 121 to beat Clyde Cabreros and Frank Eduardo by six and capture the Class A crown in the eighth Camp John Hay Invitatioinal Golf Tour at the John Hay course in Baguio City recently.

Marasigan, a 9-handicapper, and Oliva (16) shot 45 points under the best-ball format in the first day then pooled 76 points in aggregate format in the final round to clinch the crown in the 36-hole event, Camp John Hay’s premier member-guest team championship.

Cabreros and Eduardo had 45 and 70 for a 115, nipping Bong Mandapat and Earle Farrel, who had a 114 from rounds of 45 and 69, in the countback for runner-up honors in the event sponsored by FMMI, Asia Pacific Golf Corp., Poblador, Bautista & Reyes Law Office, Univ. of Baguio, Bishop Carlito Cenzon Foundation, Chevrolet, Camp John Hay DevCo and Camp john Hay Manor.

Eric Espadero and Rex Balong-Angey strung up 45 and 81 for a 126 as they held off Ed Montenegro and Rochie Hojilla, who had a 45-79 and a 124, for the Class B crown in the tournament backed by hole-in-one sponsors Meister, GPS Tracker, Rizgolf, Kymco, Wilson and Empire.

Robert Capuyan and Roldan Halili shot 45 and 76 for a 121 to finish third in the event supported by Tanduay, Hill Station, Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club, Splendido, Baguio Country Club, Le Chef, Dusit Thani Manila, Boracay Sands and Baguio General Construction.

Silvestre Bello and Richard Santos took the Class C plum with a 125 from rounds of 45 and 80, beating Kim Hong Ko and Joshua Ribaya, who made 45-78 and a 123 by two.

Fernando Tizon and Anthony Coching came through with 45 and 82 for a 127 then edged the Juanito Co-Danny Dangatan and the Julius Coching-Isee Tizon tandems in the countback to snatch the Class D crown.
