MANILA, Philippines - Junior tennis resumes next week with the staging of the fifth First Gen Juntaphil Metro Age Group Tennis Championship on May 7-13 with the country’s leading players and rising stars slugging it out for top honors in various divisions at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.
Titles to be disputed in the event, the last of two legs organized by the Junior Tennis Association of the Philippines. this summer, are the 10-unisex, 12-, 14, 16- and 18-under categories in both the boys and girls divisions along with the doubles events.
Ranking points will also be up for grabs in the Group 1 tournament presented by First Gen Corporation and sponsored by Smart Communications with RCBC, Pet One and Accel as chief backers.
Registration is ongoing with deadline set May 3 at 6 p.m. The draw will be held May 4 at 10 a.m. at the Philta office.

Monika Bañez (18-U and 21-U) and Andrea Nicole Amistad (14-U and 16-U) bagged two titles each as they led the winners in Juntaphil’s first event, the Baguio Junior Tennis Championships at the Baguio Tennis Club in Baguio City recently. They are again tipped to contend for crowns in their respective divisions in the seven-day tournament sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association.
