Pangasinan holds nat'l outdoor archery

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines -- The 2012 National Outdoor Target Archery Championships will be held April 28 to May 3 at the Capitol Driving Range here as one of the featured spectacles in the province’s Triple Treat summer fun.

More than 200 archers from Metro Manila, Baguio City, Cebu and other key cities in Luzon are expected to join the tournament sponsored by the Philippine Archers’ National Network and Alliance (PANNA), Inc.

Modesto Operania, Executive Assistant III and sports coordinator of the provincial government, said the tournament will serve as one of the “must- watch and must-experience” activities this summer not only among sports buffs but to all seeking excitement that will perk up their adrenaline this summer.

Operania said that the provincial government led by Gov. Amado Espino Jr. fully supports the project as it complements the province’s sports and youth development thrust to further promote the importance of physical skills and prowess for the young generation, expose the youth in sports and make them productive citizens.

It will be recalled that the provincial government has institutionalized the conduct of sports activities during the Pista’y Dayat (Sea Festival) celebration. This, according to Operania, will provide the young generation to spend their summer vacation in a fruitful way and inculcate in their consciousness the value of sports.
