Blackwater eyes 4th in row vs Cebuana

MANILA, Philippines - Streaking Blackwater squares off with Cebuana Lhuillier today, hoping to extend their win run to four and firm up their hold of solo second in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the San Juan gym.

The Elite Sports toppled the Big Chill side, 64-61, last week to improve to 4-1 and stay within striking distance of the defending champion NLEX Road Warriors, unbeaten in five games.

“Yes, we have a good shot (at making the semis). But we’ll just take one game at a time,” said Blackwater Sports coach Leo Isaac, whose wards hope to shrug off a 12-day layoff.

NLEX flexed its muscle and subdued the Gems, 76-63, last Thursday to remain on top of the heap.

Kelly Nabong, who posted two double doubles the last time out, is expected to lead the Elite Sports against the Gems, who are on a rollercoaster campaign under new mentor Beaujing Acot.

Meanwhile, Big Chill and Junior Powerade try to bounce back from previous losses as they collide in the 2 p.m. opener.

The Tigers bowed to the surging Erase Plantcenta, 81-69, also last week.

“Its very important for us to get back on the winning track because records show that the overall standing is very close. So we will treat each game that we will play a must-win,” said Big Chill coach Robert Sison, who had his three game winning streak snapped with a loss against Blackwater last April 12.

The Jr. Tigers have lost their last two games after the first two and are hard-pressed to win to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot.
