Muay thai fighters clash in URCC XXI

MANILA, Philippines - Southeast Asian Games veteran Reysaldo Transmonte and Jerson Estoro will dispute who’s the best muay thai fighter when they clash in the Colt 45 URCC XXI Warpath on April 28 at the SMX Convention Center.

A one-time silver medalist in the regional biennial meet, Transmonte is not only aching to bounce back from his defeat to Sulpiano Laurio Jr. in the URCC 18 (Relentless) but is also hell-bent to prove that he’s one of the best muay thai practitioners in the bantamweight division of the URCC – the country’s biggest mixed martial arts (MMA) organization.

“It’s redemption time for me. Matagal ko nang hinihintay ang pagkakataon na ito,” said Transmonte who holds a 2-1 record in the URCC. “Jerson is also a tough fighter, so it’s going to be a thriller of a fight.”

Estoro has only a 4-2 win-loss record in URCC but is undefeated in muay thai competitions, thanks to his URCC experience.

Transmonte and Estoro are known as knockout artists but the former has added grappling techniques to his arsenal to become an all-around fighter.

The Transmonte-Estoro fight is one of the three featured matches in the 10-fight card of the event presented by Colt 45 and sponsored by Red Bull with Chris Sports, VRP Medical Center, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Red Box Karaoke and Anzahl as other backers.

The highlight of what is billed as the biggest local MMA event of the year is the Superfight between the reigning URCC light heavyweight champion Nicholas Mann of Australia and middleweight king Froilan Sarenas.

Also lined up in the event with Solar Sports, Pinoy Extreme Channel and Rogue Magazine as media partners is the pinweight showdown between Roy “The Dominator” Dolinguez and Alvin Ramirez.

Tickets for the fights, according to URCC president and founder Alvin Aguilar, are now available at Ticketworld (891-9999) and SM Tickets (470-2222). First fight starts at 7 p.m.
