Yokohama GT races on at BRC

MANILA, Philippines - Some 20 cars and ace drivers rev up for grueling racing action as the 2012 Yokohama Philippine GT Championship Series unfolds today at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

Golden Wheel Driver of the Year and defending champion Vincent Floirendo goes for back-to-back against the likes of multi-titled drivers Jody Coseteng, Jomari Yllana, and Castrol-TRS lead driver Mike Tuason.

The event also marks the circuit racing debut of the all-time karting champ Stefano Marcelo.

Also vying for top honors in the event, sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by official tires Yokohama, official oil Torco Racing Oil and Racing Beat@Wave 89.1, are last year’s runner-up VM Kaikkonen of Hafele-Tuason Racing, Ramil Madriaga, Arnel Carlos, Dwight Carlos, Dean Joson, Bobby Unson, Jojo Lavina and Castrol-Tuason Racing drivers Stefan Wolf, Alvin Ng, Willie Torres, Tammy Campos, Bayani Vargas and newcomer Peter Kim.

Titles to be disputed are the premier GT200, GT300, GT130 and GT100 classes. The 12-lap sprint race will be held in the morning and the 16-lap main race in the afternoon.
