Landero, 84

MANILA, Philippines - International Softball Federation Hall of Famer Eriberto “Bert” Landero died of heart failure on April 4, Holy Wednesday. He was 84.

Landero, who was elevated to the ISF Hall of Fame in 1995, is survived by his wife Delsol, children Eriberto Jr., Edgar, Emerson, Elizabeth, Edwin, Elmer, Edna, Edison and Eleazar, children-in-law and grandchildren.

His remains lie in state at the family residence at 207 Acacia St., Comembo in Makati City.

A necrological service organized by the Amateur Softball of the Philippines will be held today at the family residence following a Holy Mass at 6 p.m. 

Interment will be tomorrow at 9 a.m. at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

Besides distinguishing himself as administrator and organizer, having served as long-time secretary general of the ASA-Phil, Amateur Softball Association-Asia and Asean Softball Federation, Landero was also a member of the national team to the 1972 World Shooting Championships held in Phoenix, Arizona.

Landero also helped in the organization of the World Men’s Softball Championships in Marikina in 1972 and Pasig in 1992.

He is the second of only two Filipinos enshrined into the ISF Hall of Fame for non-athlete, after former ASA-Phil president and Rizal Gov. Isidro Rodriguez. He also served as camp director of the Philippine Sports Commission training camp in Baguio City.
