Western Visayas little leaguers sweep rivals

MANILA, Philippines - Iloilo scored a double kill and Bacolod shutout Alabang as Western Visayas completed a perfect performance in the 2012 Little League Philippine Series held at Clark Freeport Zone in Angeles City yesterday.

The Ilongas crushed Cavite, 9-1, in the major league softball and booked a semifinal seat then whipped Tarlac, 5-2, in the senior league softball and handed the Tarlacqueñas their first defeat in two games.

Bacolod, the reigning junior league softball champion, went 3-for-3 for Western Visayas by blanking Alabang, 6-0.

The Ilongas, who beat Bacolod and Tarlac, dominated the Caviteñas to clinch their third straight victory in the 11-12 years old division for a seat in the next round.

Riflayca Basa yielded three hits and had four strikeouts in seven innings to give Bacolod its second successive shutout win since blanking ILLAM, 6-0.
