MANILA, Philippines - The FIM Asia Motocross Championships will hold the veterans championships on April 12-15 with the country’s leading senior riders slugging it out for top honors in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
The event, open to riders 40-55 years old from the FIM Asia member federations, will be held simultaneously with the national motocross series at the world-class Barangay Sta. Monica racetrack.
Heading the cast in the event, hosted by Mayor Edward Hagedorn, are Junjun San Andres, Gimo Gonzales Frank Derek Cu, Florante Ramento, Dominic Tan, Siegfried Ornopia of Cebu and Guam’s Stan Yasuhiro.
Also on tap is the Asian MX2 category led by defending champion Arnon Theplib of Thailand, former champion Tomoya Suzuki of Japan, Khaliunbold Erdenebileg of Mongolia and Filipino ace Kenneth San Andres.
Others seeing action in the event, sponsored by the City of Puerto Princesa, Asia Brewery, Polisport, Repsol, Kia Palawan and Shakey’s, are veteran Jovie Saulog, fast-rising Jean Erick Mitra of Nueva Ecija, San Pablo City’s Mark Reggie Flores and Gabriel Simon Macaso.
