MANILA, Philippines - Rain or Shine’s point guard TY Tang has launched a basketball camp at Xavier Sports Complex “to develop more potential aspirants who could perform in a higher level of competition.”
The talented Tang, winner of various MVP awards during his PBL days with Harbour Centre after an equally successful campaign with UAAP titlist La Salle Green Archers and many-time Tiong Lian champion Xavier School , has attracted close to 40 boys and girls, aged between 5 and 13, in the first module of his class which ends April 21.
The second module of the program called the TY Tang Basketball School (TYBS) will start April 23.
TY has partnered with Xavier School in his newest endeavor also supported by Mighty Corp. and Rain or Shine.
TYBS is open to all kids from any school. Classes are held every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
TY says “the camp focuses on the fundamentals. Personally, I believe that the game doesn’t need pure inborn talent, athleticism and height. It is best to be combined with discipline, character, desire and intellect.”

TY explains that “discipline is honed by repetitive drills and mastering the skills to perfection. Character is developed by being exposed to other participants and knowing when to lead and when to follow because that’s how respect is earned in and out of the court. Desire is all about putting your mind and heart and giving out your all. This passion brings triumph, success and wins and intellect is applying to the game all that you have learned.”
The youthful TY adds that “a combination of all the above would let you maximize your game by making more right decisions, giving you more confidence and making you mentally stronger.”
