Pres Cup srs golf under way

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s top golfing seniors slug it out today in the President’s Cup of the Federation of Philippine Amateur Senior Golfers, Inc. at the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Philippine Sports Commission chair Richie Garcia graces the 18-hole tournament held to foster camaraderie among members of the 24 affiliated clubs within the FPASGI, headed by Gen. (Ret.) Melchor Rosales.

“We will seek to honor all senior chapters of the 24 affiliated clubs represented by their presidents and the FPASGI board,” said Rosales.

The FPASGI is the only senior golf association in the country recognized by the USA-based World Senior Golf Association and the Confederation of ASEAN Senior Golfers Association.

The event, sponsored by San Miguel Corp., through its chairman, Eduardo Cojuangco Jr., is the first of a series of tournaments lined up by FPASGI this year with the next stop slated at Veterans Golf Course with the Philippine Navy Golf Course, the Villamor Golf Course, the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club and the Eastridge Golf and Country Club hosting the succeeding legs.
