Kennon Global run set at historic Baguio

MANILA, Philippines -  More than P100,000 in prizes are up for grabs for the inaugural staging of the Kennon Global Marathon on April 15 at the scenic, historic and challenging Kennon Road in Baguio City.

Considered as the first and only uphill running event in the country, Kennon Global Marathon is being supported by Tiong San Supermarket and Department Store, LBC, Fortune General Insurance, Toby’s, the Department of Public Works and Highways, the Philippine National Police, Spectrum, Boy Scouts of the Philippines Baguio and Benguet, the National Institute for Information Technology, the Baguio General Hospital, the 911 On Call, and the city government of Baguio and the municipal government of Tuba, Benguet.

A top prize of P20,000 will go to the champion in the 21k Conqueror’s Race which will start at Camp 3 in Tuba, Benguet and will finish in Burnham Park, Baguio City. Second and third placers will receive P15,000 and P10,000, respectively. There will be separate prizes for the men and women categories.

Cash prizes are also at stake in the 8.5k that will start on the famous Lion’s Head and finish at Burnham Park. Trophies and medals, await those who will lead the 5k and 3k races.

Registration is now in full swing at Tiong San on Harrison road in Baguio and at Kilometer 3, La Trinidad, Benguet. Those in Baguio can just go to the customer service section, fill up a registration form and pay the registration fees. Race packs will be delivered to them via LBC. Registration fees are P450 for 3k, P550 for 5k, P650 for 8.5k and P750 for 21k. All finishers will get “I Survived Kennon Road” shirts.
