Elite five eyes solo lead vs Jr Tigers

-

MANILA, Philippines - Blackwater Sports goes for its second straight win and the early solo lead as it squares off with Junior Powerade today in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at The Arena in San Juan City.

The Elite are raring to come up with a follow-up to their emphatic 88-67 victory over the Pacific Pipes side last week as they set out against the untested Tigers in their 4 p.m. encounter.

“We know nothing about this team (Junior Powerade). We don’t know their style of play and we have no idea how to play them. All we know is that this team is composed of collegiate players from UP,” said Blackwater coach Leo Isaac.

“But definitely, we can’t take them for granted. When I assembled this team all I asked of my players is their 100 percent commitment. I told them with the manpower that we have, we can go all the way as long as they give me their cooperation,” added Isaac.

One thing going for the Elite is that they will be up against an undermanned opponent as Junior Powerade coach Ricky Dandan will miss two of his injured players, leaving him with just 10 players.

“But we’ll give them a good fight. We’ll see what happens,” Dandan said.

Meanwhile, Erase Plantcenta tries to bounce back from its opening day loss as it takes on Cagayan Rising Suns in a duel of newcomers at 2 p.m.

The Erasers lost steam and bowed to Café France, 57-74, last week.

Meanwhile, assistant coach Francis Rodriguez will be calling the shots for the Rising Suns after head coach Alvin Pua was sacked for three games.

Pua was also fined P50,000 by PBA commissioner Chito Salud for assaulting a referee during a practice game with National University two weeks ago.
