Manila Surfer's Association and Aloha Boardsports Presents the 7th Annual Manila Surfer's Cup

The Manila Surfer's Association (MSA), in cooperation with Aloha Boardsports and the La Union Surf Club (LUSC) will be holding the 7th Annual Manila Surfer's Cup in Bggy. Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union from March 10 to 11, 2012.  On its seventh consecutive year, this is the longest running surf competition for Manila based surfers, and is being held to bring awareness and to raise funds for MSA's Medical Mission in San Juan, La Union on April 21. 

Founded in 2006 by a handful of Manila-based Surfers, the Manila Surfer's Association is a non-profit organization has grown to represent the social and sporting interests of over 250 Manila-based surfers from various backgrounds. Stemming from its original goals of supporting the development of surfing in the Philippines, MSA's main thrusts are to create stronger ties among Manila-based surfers and between the local surfing communities in the Philippines, as well as pooling together the various talents and resources of Manila based surfers to support social development activities in the various seaside communities where Manilenos surf. 

This year's competition, in cooperation with Aloha Boardsports, is expected to be its biggest yet, with eleven (11) different competitive categories of various skill levels. There will be Novice categories for new male and female surfers, Open categories for men and women on Longboards and Shortboards, and Invitational categories for the more skilled members of MSA in longboard and shortboard. The finals of each competition will be captured on Contour POV Cameras in the waterA "grom" competition (for children), an Expression session for selected local surfers of the La Union Surf Club will also be on hand, as well as MSA's colorful and popular annual Costume Surf Competition, brought to you by Fruits In Ice Cream. A beach gathering in front of San Juan Surf Camp will be held on Saturday night, with bands provided by Vans Off The Wall and San Miguel, where footage from the day's competition captured on Contour cameras will be shown. 

Registration will be held at MSA's Kickoff Event at Hao HK Diner, Jupiter St, Makati on Wednesday, March 07, 2012 at 8PM. New MSA members can register with the group, with the first 200 members receiving 10% discount vouchers from Aloha Boardsports. his year's competition is also sponsored by Vans, San Miguel and Antonov Vodka.
