Rosales ends up 16th in world ladies golf
MANILA, Philippines - Jennifer Rosales bogeyed two of the last six holes and settled for a 72, finishing in joint 16th with four others in the World Ladies Championship topped by Chinese Shan Shan Feng in Mission Hills, China yesterday.
Rosales looked headed for a big rebound from a second round 73 as she birdied Nos. 5 and 10 but faded out with bogeys on Nos. 13 and 17 and wound up with an even par card.
She closed out with a 215 and ended up joint 16th with Virginie Lagoutte-Clement (72) and Gwladys Nocera (72) of France, ), Carin Koch (72) of Sweden and Line Vedel (74).
Feng birdied No. 17 to fire a 71 for a 206 and beat Thai Pornanong Phatlum by one to claim the individual crown. Phatlum had a 207 after a 70.
Dottie Ardina, who missed the cut in the individual competition with a 73-80 Saturday, birdied the 17th and finished with a 74 for the Philippines’ 146 aggregate in team play.
They wound up with a 442 total, including a 143 and 153, for joint 12th with the United States (151) in a field of 20.
China ran away with the team crown with a 415 total after a closing 145, beating Thailand by two strokes. The Thais assembled a 417 after a 139 while Sweden finished third with a 420 after a 140.
Jing Yan completed China’s sweep of the 3-in-1 tournament as she copped the amateur individual title with a 216 after a 71, beating the fancied Lydia Ko of Australia, who had a 218 after a 76.
