Baguio Penguins join PSL

MANILA, Philippines - The Baguio Penguins swimming team has affiliated with the Philippine Swimming League following the visit yesterday of the federation headed by Susan Papa.

The Penguins team, formerly a member of the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association, is composed of swimmers from six to 72 years old. With its affliliation, the team, coached by Jeron Mercacer, announced it would compete in the PSL 20th leg dubbed Mayor Nilo Leyble Swim Meet, at Bosay, Antipolo on March 11. The meet will be hosted by Emer Matienzo.

Nathan Reyes Cheng, a member of the Penguins, is joining the All-Star National Student Swim Challenge slated March 17-18. The 12-year-old promising swimmer is being trained by PSL in preparation for the upcoming international age group competition in Hong Kong.

 The PSL made the Baguio visit on the advice of DPS president and former Sen. Nikki Coseteng.
