Whites, Reds draw high goal match
MANILA, Philippines - Team Whites and Team Reds drew their high goal match to highlight the Fila Polo Cup at the Manila Polo Club’s Enrique Zobel field in Makati recently.
Inigo Zobel, Jake Zobel, Mark Field and Jun Juban bannered the Fila Whites squad, while the Fila Reds were led by Carlos Mansur, Bruce Colley, Santi Laborde and Gus Aguirre in the featured high goal game that ended in a tie with six chukkers.
Earlier, Cris Albert of Fila, the world’s elite Italian sports brand, socialite Tessa Prieto-Valdes and Manila Polo Club president Roman Azanza along with the Fila endorsers threw out the ceremonial ball toss-in to kick-off the “sport of kings” that included a low goal or the round-robin game.
The low goal was played by Butch Albert, Jones Lanza, Jay de Jesus, Jimboy Dulay, Rosanna Yulo, Miguel Camara, Adrian Garcia, Mikee Romero, Paola Zobel, Jim Donovan, Tonio Veloso and Ray del Rosario.
Since 2003, the Fila Polo Cup has been one of the brightest highlights in the local sports calendar, not just for the action but also for the glitz and glamour.
