Orcollo finishes strong vs Kuwaiti

MANILA, Philippines - Orcollo muffed a couple of easy shots in the early going on the TV table but settled down and won three straight racks to shatter a 4-all count and advance to the last 64 of the event he ruled in grand fashion last year.

“I missed some easy shots,” said Orcollo. “The pockets are very tight and the table is new so I had to make some adjustments. But I’m confident I can win again.”

Lee Vann Corteza and Joven Alba also made it to the Last 64 of the event which stakes $20,000 to the winner with the former edging Dominic Jentsch of Germany, 7-6, and the latter blasting Elvis Calasang, 7-2.

Chang Jun Lin of Chinese-Tapei, who routed Sayeem Hossaien of UAE, 7-3, Chris Melling of Great Britain, who demolished Majid Sultan of UAE, 7-1; Serge Das of Belgium, who downed Takhti Zarekani of Iran, 7-3; Ralf Souquet of Germany who outplayed Radoslaw Babica of Poland, 7-4; Omar Al Shaheen of Kuwait, who blanked Turki Al Ali Meshaal of Qatar, 7-0; and Niels Feijen of the Netherlands, who beat Lee Chenman of Hong Kong, 7-3.
