“It’s gonna be tough because of the long travel. So I’ll try to pace the locals, adjust practices, because we’re not a young team anymore, and focus on the mental aspect,” said coach Glenn Capacio, whose Patriots crew (4-1) are gunning for their fourth straight win to further cement their hold of the lead in the 4 p.m. match against the Slingers (4-2).
“We also have to maintain our conditioning because we rely so much on our quickness to go on fastbreak plays. Likewise, we need to improve on our rebounding,” added Capacio.
The Patriots’ job under the boards will get a big boost as 6-foot-7 Aldrech Ramos returns after sitting out the last three games due to sprained ankle.
“Aldrech’s return will be a big help because my rotation will get deeper,” said Capacio of his young frontliner, who averages three points and two rebounds.
Imports Anthony Johnson (25 ppg, 8.20 rpg) and Nakiea Miller (19.8 ppg, 13.6 rpg) are expected to anchor the team co-owned by Mikee Romero and Tony Boy Cojuangco, with Al Vergara (13 points and 12 assists in their 86-72 win over Westports Malaysia Dragons) directing their plays in his first game against his former club.
