Unbeaten teams clash in Shakey's volleyball

-

MANILA, Philippines - National U and Angelicum College (ANC) hope to keep their winning ways against a pair of fancied teams as action in the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League NCR leg resumes today at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The NU tossers swept their first three matches in Pool A but brace for a tough outing against the De La Salle-Zobel (DLZ) side at 1 p.m. while ANC goes for its third win in row in Pool B against University of the East (UE) in the 9 a.m. opener of a six-game bill.

DLZ and UE hurdled their respective opening day assignments and are going all out to stop NU and ANC’s win run in the two-division tournament sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and organized by Metro Sports.

In other matches, UP Integrated School (UPS) makes its debut in the event backed by Toby’s, Mikasa and Asics against King’s Montessori School (KMS) in Pool B at 10 a.m., while Mighty Sports-Hope Christian School (HCS) seeks a second straight win against St. James College-Paranaque (SJP) at 11 a.m. in Pool A.

Colegio San Agustin (CSA) guns for its second win in three games against MGC New Life Christian Academy (0-1) in Pool B at 2 p.m. while HCS returns to play Rizal High School (0-2) in the 3 p.m. contest.

Meanwhile, ANC resumes its campaign tomorrow as it takes on UPS at 8 a.m. while HCS battles Elizabeth Seton School (0-2) at 9 a.m. CSA squares off with KMS at 10 a.m. while DLZ and UST (1-2) collide at 11 a.m.

The top two teams in both divisions after the single round elims will clash in the crossover semis with the winners disputing the NCR leg crown and a berth in the Tournament of Champions slated March 21-24 in Davao City.
