MANILA, Philippines - The Arellano University Chiefs cruised to a 77-66 win over the Angeles University Foundation Great Danes and secured a quarterfinal slot in the eighth Fr. Martin Collegiate Open Cup basketball tournament.

Shane Ko posted a game-high 18 points to power the Lyceum Philippine University Pirates past the Mapua Cardinals, 79-71, to remain in the quarterfinal race with a 3-2 card in Group A.

The Far Eastern University Tamaraws, with Arvie Bringas firing 25 points, blasted the La Salle-Lipa Chevrons, 112-56, to join the Pirates at 3-2 for a crack at the quarters seat.

In the other result, the STI Olympians notched their first win after four straight setbacks as they waylaid the Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite Generals, 82-76.
