UST cue artists pace college tilt

MANILA, Philippines - The fancied UST senior billiards team kept its winning ways in the National Collegiate Billiards League, edging Trinity University of Asia, 2-1, at the Star Billiards Center in QC last weekend.

Rodlin John Bautista dominated Jerry Zenit, 7-2, in 9-ball while Cedric Gonzales nipped Richard Taganas, 7-5, in 10-ball to secure the victory for the Tigers.

Taganas teamed up with Jaeron Faraon to frustrate the pair of Bautista and Gerthee Estrella, 5-4, in 10-ball doubles to avert a shutout loss.

UST earlier swept Pasig Catholic College and San Beda with a pair of 3-0 victories.

In other results, University of the East, Far Eastern University, San Sebastian College and Fatima University routed Arellano University, University of Makati, Pasig Catholic College and Mapua, respectively.

In junior play, defending champion Xavier School subdued St. Paul, 2-1, while Sto. Niño upset St. Mary’s School, 2-1.
