Cafe France sinks DUB, fans QF bid

-

MANILA, Philippines - Jeff Viernes hit 19 points while Michael Parala turned in a double-double job of 14 points and 14 rebounds as Cafe France trounced DUB Unlimited to keep its flickering quarterfinal hopes alive in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the San Juan gym yesterday.

Lyle Antipuesto added 12 markers while Mac Montilla chipped in 11 points for Café France, which won for the second straight game and tied RnW Pacific Pipes and PC Gilmore at fifth with 4-5 cards.

Café France winds up its elims stint against fancied NLEX on Jan. 17, needing no less than a victory to assure itself of a playoff for the last quarterfinal berth.

Joseph Hermosisima scored 16 points and had six assists as Boracay Rum dumped PC Gilmore, 71-41, to likewise remain in the hunt for a quarter berth.

Glenn Khobuntin tallied 13 points and had 10 rebounds and Maclean Sabilina contributed 12 and 10 rebounds for the Waves, who broke the game wide open in the second quarter before cruising to victory in the second half.

Boracay Rum’s aggressiveness on both ends translated to a 38-18 halftime advantage that virtually took the fight out from the poor-shooting Wizards.

Stephen Siruma and Toting Bandaying also finished with 11 points a piece for the Waves, who closed out the elims with a 5-5 record.

PC Gilmore ended its campaign with a 4-6 mark.
