Takbo para sa Edu-Misyon raises funds for missions

MANILA, Philippines - Organizers of the second Stags Run 2012 dubbed “Takbo para sa Edu-Misyon” on Jan. 15 at the Asean City near the Mall of Asia and Macapagal Boulevard hope to generate more funds for their apostolic mission in Palawan and West Africa.

“Our hope is to generate more funds for our educational mission not just in the Philippines but also in Africa,” said San Sebastian College-Recoletos president Fr. Anthony Morillo, OAR.

San Sebastian is working to fund its charitable and education missions in both Sierra Leone in West Africa and in a far-flung area in Casian Island in Palawan.

Pasay City Mayor Tony Calixto has confirmed his presence in the race which coincides with the school’s 65th founding anniversary celebrations.

Organizers hope to surpass the 5,300-plus runners who took part in last year’s inaugural staging of the event also put up to promote a healthy lifestyle through running.

“We hope to attract and draw as many participants as last year but if we could get more to join our event, the better for everybody,” said Fr. Christopher Maspara, OAR.

Registration is ongoing at Chris Sports stores at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Glorietta and SM Manila and ROX in Taguig.

Listup is also on San Sebastian’s Mendiola campus through Fr. Arnel Diaz, OAR, Dindo Bunag and athletic director Frank Gusi.
