World tilt kicks off NCA derby season
MANILA, Philippines - The National Cockers Association kicks off its 2012 season with the staging of the World Championship Derby on Jan. 10, 12 and 14 with a crack roster of participants vying for top honors at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Defending champions Johnny Jalandoni and Gov. Bong Carreon set out to keep their crown but a host of other breeders are out to foil their bid in the event long considered as the counterpart of the famed derbies of the Sunset Recreational Club in Louisiana, USA.
“The NCA WCD is the toughest in the world,” according to noted American gamefowl breeder Dan Gray.
“Only the best breeders and cockers in the world join the NCA World Championship Derby,” Tom Wilson said. “The number and quality of entries make it the hardest derby to win.”
