Phl jungolfers claim 3 golds in Guam tilt

-

MANILA, Philippines - Aidric Chan, Kyla Nocum and Arnie Taguines bested their rivals to rule their respective divisions in the third BMW Guam Junior Golf League tournament at the Leo Palace Resort in Guam last weekend.

Chan, a Grade 4 pupil from Ateneo, lorded it over the field and retained the boys’ 10-and-under crown, Nocum pocketed the girls’ 10-and-under title, while Taguines reigned in the girls’ 8-and-under category of the annual event which drew the leading junior golfers from Guam, Saipan, Marianas, Micronesia, Korea and the Philippines.

Samantha Martirez failed to match the troika’s feat as she settled for runner-up honors in the girls’ 14-and-under.

John Lester Lagman, meanwhile, topped the Secretary of National Defense Golf Cup at the Veterans Golf Club in Quezon City recently.

The Filipino junior golfers are priming up for the Philippine International Jungolf Tournament in Jan. 2012, the Junior World qualifier in April in San Diego, and the US Kids Qualifying Tour in May in North Carolina.
