Phl skaters star in Disney show

MANILA, Philippines - Two Filipina skaters will be among the featured performers in the keenly awaited Disney on Ice production slated Dec. 25-Jan. 3 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Justine Brittany Biacora Lopez, daughter of Danilo Martinez Lopez and Lorna Reyes Biacora from Batangas, will portray a major role in the magical, entertaining show that has been the Big Dome’s highlight Christmas presentation the last 20 years.

The 23-year-old Filipina will play Princess Tiana, main protagonist in Disney’s 2009 film “The Princess and the Frog.”

Filipino families, who have followed the Disney on Ice series, will also catch Mickey, Minnie and the rest of the gang in the 2011 event dubbed Disney on Ice presents Let’s Celebrate!

It’s the first of a series of new ice spectacular that Filipinos will experience in the next five years at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Zach Ellard, Feld Entertainment’s regional marketing director for Southeast Asia and India, revealed the inclusion of the Filipina skaters during a recent press conference at the Gateway Suites in Gateway Mall in Cubao, Quezon City.

The show will include 10 colorful, romantic, and high-energy acts, including a Very Merry UnBirthday Party with Alice and the Mad Hatter; a Halloween party with Jack Skellington and the Disney Villains; a Hawaiian luau with Lilo and Stitch; and a Valentine’s Day Royal Ball with the Disney Princesses.

With the help of Mickey’s Digital Global Destinator, the show will also transport you to far-off places so you can witness events such as the Mardi Gras in New Orleans, the Chinese New Year in China, and the Carnival in Brazil.

Disney On Ice presents Let’s Celebrate!  is presented by the Araneta Center, Smart Araneta Coliseum, Lactum, Meralco, Philippine Airlines and TV 5. It is also presented by Fox International, Summit Media, Disney Junior, Inquirer.net, radio partners 99.5 RT, Magic 89.9, Jam 88.3 and Wave 89.1.
